Overall protection: If the Quls are recited in the morning and evening, one gets protection from all harmful things

Abdullah Ibn Khubaib RA said that,

We went out on a rainy night in pitch darkness in search of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, so that he would pray with us. We found him. He said, Tell me. I didn't say anything. He said again, say. I didn't say anything. He said again, say. I said, what to say? He said, "You shall recite three times in the evening and in the morning - قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ احَدٌ (Surah Ikhlas) and Mu'awwidhatayn (i.e. Surah Falaq and Surah Nas). Then it will be sufficient for you from all (harmful) things. (Jame Tirmidhi, Hadith 3575; Sunan Abi Dawud, Hadith 5082)

After every Fard prayer, read three quls:

Uqba Ibn Amer RA said:

Prophet Muhammad SAW ordered me to recite three kuls after every (obligatory) prayer. (Sunan Abi Dawud, Hadith 1523)

Before going to bed at night, read three quls and rub your hands on the body

Ayesha RA said:

Every night when the Prophet Muhammad SAW went to bed, he would join his hands together (like raising his hands in prayer). Then he used to recite قُلْ هُوَ الله احد (Surah Ikhlas), قل ععوئ برب الفلق (Surah Falaq) and قل ععُوئُ بِرَبّ الناس (Surah Nas). Then he would blow on his hand. After that, he would touch as many parts of the body as possible with both hands. He used to start from the head, face and front of the body. Thus (the whole work) he used to do three times. (Musnad Ahmad, Hadith 24853; Sahih Bukhari, Hadith 5017)

If you are sick, blow on your hands and rub your hands on the body

Ayesha RA said:

When Prophet Muhammad SAW was sick, he used to recite 3 Qul, blow (on his hands) and rub his hands (on his body). When he was on his deathbed, I would blow three Qul and shake his hand. (Sahih Bukhari, Hadith 5016, 5735, 5751)

Surah Ikhlas is one third of the Quran

Abu Saeed Khudri RA said:

The Prophet Muhammad SAW said to his Companions, "Is there anyone among you who can recite a third of the Qur'an in one night?" It seemed very difficult to the Companions. They said, O Messenger of God! Who is it possible for? Then he said, Surah Ikhlas is one third of the Quran. (Sahih Bukhari, Hadith 5015)

In another hadith it is mentioned that,

At the time of the Prophet SAW time, a man was reciting only Surah Ikhlas repeatedly in the last part of the night. Nothing else was reciting. Another person saw the incident and considered it (only reciting Surah Ikhlas) to be less (of action or A’mal), and mentioned the matter to the Prophet Muhammad SAW in the morning. The Prophet Muhammad SAW said, "By the One in Whose Hand is my life, surely Surah Ikhlas is equivalent to one third of the Qur'an." (Sahih Bukhari, Hadith 5013, 5014)

Surah Ikhlas is the way to get the love of Allah SWT

Ayesha RA said:

The Prophet Muhammad SAW sent a man to lead the battle. That person used to finish the Qirat with his companions by reciting Surah Ikhlas. When they returned, the matter was mentioned to the Prophet Muhammad SAW. The Prophet said, ask him, why does he do this? they asked him. He said, because this surah is the quality of Rahman (i.e., it discusses the attributes of Allah), and I love to read this surah. Then the Prophet Muhammad SAW said: Tell him that Allah loves him. (Sahih Bukhari, Hadith 7375)
